Just for the record, this is not exactly a book review. However, I am going to recommend a few books to you within this genre. What genre? The Reverse Harem genre. The huh? What? Exactly my thoughts too…
I’m in a couple of book groups on Facebook, as you are likely to be as well, and every day I scroll past people requesting book recommendations in certain (sub)genres. Standard things like Office Romance or Single Parent books, but also more taboo (sub)genres such as BDSM and Stepbrothers/siblings. I try to read a little bit of everything – though I always enjoy an excellent contemporary romance novel – so I’m often not surprised by people’s requests.
Until about a month ago when someone in one of my favorite groups started talking about Reverse Harem romance – also known as Polyamorous romance – and asked for recommendations. But not just any reverse harem situation; this reader referred to polyamorous books with one woman and multiple men. And not just two men, but three or five or even more!
I was dumbfounded. I didn’t even know such a thing existed. But naturally curious me ventured out to Goodreads in search of the best of the best Reverse Harem romance novels. And then I stumbled upon the Rock-Hard Beautiful series by C.M. Munich.
From Goodreads: GROUPIE is a 130,000 word novel about heartache, love, grief, and the beauty of sex. It contains rockstars, concerts, young love, deep hurt, broken pasts, group sex, one beautiful girl who falls in love with five guys and five guys who fall in love with one beautiful girl. This is a MMMFMM book with a STRONG focus on the woman (although the men aren’t scared of each other’s bodies) aka a reverse harem novel (one woman, five guys). It has a happy ending, NO cliff-hanger, and is the first book in a trilogy.
I haven’t read a trilogy since Twilight came out…no scratch that…since Fifty Shades of Grey came out, but I devoured this trilogy in two days. One woman and five men; it was crazy! Even crazier was that I definitely didn’t expect it to be this good! I was totally uhm…sucked…into the story. I tried a couple more Reverse Harem romance books after that, but none of them compared to this series.
Though, if you want to take it a step further, you should try 10 Men by Stephanie Brother. Yes, you read that right: 10 Men! Not as good as the Rock-Hard Beautiful series but definitely worth a try (in my opinion).
I’m going back to my contemporaries for a while now so I can gather my wits (and calm my loins) before I start another polyamorous story, but I would love to know if you have read books in this (sub)genre before and if you have any recommendations for me and the readers of this blog. Let us know in the comments!
